Speaker:

Let's take a moment to connect the dots.

Speaker:

Every Thursday in under 10 minutes, I'm going to share with you real

Speaker:

life, everyday situations to help you as an entrepreneur, a leader,

Speaker:

an innovator, or just a person who's venturing out to try something new.

Speaker:

These stories will help you make sense of situations.

Speaker:

You may find yourself in and also provide encouragement to keep you

Speaker:

moving forward in your journey.

Speaker:

I spent many years in Corporate America as an employee involved in everything

Speaker:

from semiconductors to power plants, to aviation, to real estate and construction,

Speaker:

to software development and technology.

Speaker:

And along the way, I've experienced a lot, learned a lot and created

Speaker:

a lot of value for other entities.

Speaker:

And once I became a full-time entrepreneur myself, I was able to use all of

Speaker:

these experiences to build innovative startups across various industries,

Speaker:

leading to a great career fulfillment and additional learning opportunity.

Speaker:

And for anyone who has followed my journey or know a little bit about it

Speaker:

from reading online or hearing me speak on a panel or podcast or whatever, you

Speaker:

know, I've had a lot of twists and turns.

Speaker:

Most of the decisions that I've made career wise have been made to

Speaker:

accommodate my family and balance my life as a wife and a mother.

Speaker:

And for anyone that's listening that's struggling with that, I want

Speaker:

you to know that careers ebb and flow, but prioritizing your family

Speaker:

commitments does not hinder your career.

Speaker:

It actually makes you more strategic about it.

Speaker:

Recently I shared on LinkedIn that I used to homeschool my kids for three years

Speaker:

and everybody was wondering, well, how in the world did I find time to do that?

Speaker:

The DM's I received were from people who were both intrigued, but also

Speaker:

interested in doing it themselves, which was really surprising to me.

Speaker:

One thing I made sure to communicate to them was that everyone's

Speaker:

situation is unique and duplication is nearly impossible, but whatever

Speaker:

they want to do, they can do it.

Speaker:

I'm proof of that.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

But also, I made sure to mention that tenacity is probably the most

Speaker:

important thing, because they're going to experience challenges along the

Speaker:

way, but those challenges won't last forever and the fulfillment and results

Speaker:

will make it all worth it in the end.

Speaker:

Well, that's similar to business.

Speaker:

There are so many things that you have to be creative about to get

Speaker:

things done and finagle along the way.

Speaker:

Well, I'm at it again, doing something that people would

Speaker:

say is crazy or impossible.

Speaker:

And how is she going to do that?

Speaker:

And you know, who does she think she is?

Speaker:

You guys know, you know how that goes.

Speaker:

But I'm at a point now where I like to build on my foundation of innovation

Speaker:

and entrepreneurship, even more.

Speaker:

Someone in my network recently posted about the topic of career and

Speaker:

transitions and are you happy where you are and all those types of things.

Speaker:

And I chimed in to say, "well, I'm actually ready to amp it up a bit more.

Speaker:

Because I'm preparing for my next move."

Speaker:

And I'm going to share with you guys that, that next move is to purchase a company.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

I own a company right now.

Speaker:

It's a strategy consulting firm, which is one of my ventures.

Speaker:

But you might be thinking, well, how does this tie into your innovation work?

Speaker:

Well, I'll be heavily focused on first acquiring a company that's in need of

Speaker:

digital transformation and new leadership.

Speaker:

We're at a point where many businesses are for sale as baby

Speaker:

boomers, retire and transition.

Speaker:

So there is a lot of opportunity for value innovation at these companies and many

Speaker:

not only mean digital transformation, but also a work culture reset, fresh

Speaker:

ideas and just new energy overall.

Speaker:

And it's exciting to bring innovation to long standing businesses and help them

Speaker:

make that crossover little by little, even in the work I do right now at TPM

Speaker:

Focus, my strategy consulting company.

Speaker:

It's just that in this next phase, I'll be combining that with buying companies

Speaker:

and leading the digital and cultural transformation as the owner, TPM Focus

Speaker:

remains as the innovation consulting partner for these acquisitions in my

Speaker:

employees are excited about our growth and their opportunity to learn and experience

Speaker:

even more on this journey with me.

Speaker:

And I appreciate their commitment to all of my ideas

Speaker:

and craziness as some may think.

Speaker:

It's a long process to selecting and closing on the right companies.

Speaker:

And with that in mind, I'm excited to share a part of the process with you

Speaker:

during the next season of Unpolished MBA.

Speaker:

Now, I love to invite anyone currently involved in or interested

Speaker:

in entrepreneurship through acquisition and those who have

Speaker:

embarked on non traditional paths to entrepreneurship, to the Unpolished MBA.

Speaker:

We're going to be starting up our next season in April of 2022.

Speaker:
